Snoopy come home why is lila in the hospital

The problem may be that Bill Melendez, who directed, and Charles M. Schultz, who wrote the movie based on his own comic characters, couldn't decide whether to aim for kids or their parents. Not many kids read it, and I imagine that not many grade-school kids could really appreciate its subtlety. Yet "Snoopy, Come Home" has been mostly conceived as a children's movie. So a lot of the action has to take place on a fairly simple level, and a lot of the funny Schulz lines are completely lost on the kids.

It's kind of schizo. Still, there are some fine scenes, including a boxing match between Snoopy and Lucy, where Snoopy doesn't have to worry about being socked on the nose because that's where he's wearing his glove. Roger Ebert was the film critic of the Chicago Sun-Times from until his death in In , he won the Pulitzer Prize for distinguished criticism.

Reviews Snoopy, Come Home. Without the benefit of a voice other than his indecipherable growl-like speaking , Snoopy's signature rants were lost on television and film until Snoopy, Come Home. Snoopy, Come Home was the only Peanuts animated project produced during Vince Guaraldi 's lifetime that did not contain a musical score by the noted jazz composer.

Guaraldi had composed all the previous Peanuts animated television specials as well as the debut feature film A Boy Named Charlie Brown. Music for this film was instead composed by the brothers Richard M. Sherman , who were notable for the music used in many Disney films. Schulz said this was an experiment, as he had wanted to have more of a commercial, Disney feel to Snoopy, Come Home. Schulz later said he would have utilized Guaraldi's services for the third Peanuts feature, Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown , had the composer not died suddenly in A soundtrack was released by Columbia Records, but is now out of print.

It is unknown if it will ever be re-released. On occasions, when the film airs on TV, some of the parts where Snoopy fights with Linus and Lucy are cut, either for being too violent or for time reasons. The part where Sally finds a copy of Sambo in the library is also often cut. Peanuts Wiki Explore. User reviews 52 Review. Top review. Breaks yer heart I first read the book adaptation of this in 4th grade, when I was 9, about ' I was crushed, especially by the scene at the farewell party for Snoopy, when Charlie Brown goes to the podium and tries to find the words to say goodbye to his dog, his friend.

He cannot. I was choking up really bad, having had a collie for some years at that time, I could not fathom not having him around, so it hit home. Now when I think of it, I also enjoy the music, the trip the twosome-Snoopy and Woodstock, take, the 'No Dogs Allowed' running themes, the over all melancholy feeling that pervades the film.

However, upon finding out the apartment they lived in did not allow dogs, they returned Snoopy back to the puppy farm, where Charlie eventually purchased him. I often took this as a non-verbal sign that Schulz was saying that Snoopy definitely preferred his life with Charlie and the kids, and that Linus was right. Lila never showed up again in the comics after , but four years later, she would be part of the story arc in the animated film, Snoopy Come Home.

The film starts off with Snoopy seeming almost like a nuisance to the kids at one point he gets frustrated and attempts to bully Linus out of his blanket! Unlike the comic, we would spend some more time with Lila in the hospital, and see her interacting with both Snoopy and Woodstock. We see Snoopy enjoying his time with her, but there comes a point where she says something that makes him a little apprehensive:.

However, Snoopy suddenly breaks down in tears, torn apart by his emotions. You want to be sure that person you had something with a long time ago is alright, but you know it can never be like it once was.

However, Snoopy quickly types up a letter, declaring his going -away, and the donation of a number of his things. A farewell party is held, and Snoopy tearfully goes on his way. This sign is right outside the front door of the building, and it seems odd that for all her time living here, Lila never once noticed it. This means that Snoopy is unable to stay and after bidding his former owner goodbye, cheerfully returns to the kids back home as Lila sadly watches him go. Over the years, Schulz had introduced a number of siblings for Snoopy.

From his brother Spike to his sister Belle, Snoopy was soon revealed to be one of 6 siblings in the comic strip. In Reunion , the number was expanded to eight, with the TV special giving him an extra brother and sister.

Unlike the comic telling of Charlie Brown going with his parents to the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm when he was very young, he and Linus go by themselves to purchase a dog. Love and relationships in many forms have been a part of the Peanuts strips over the years. While Snoopy would have his ups-and-downs with female dogs even coming close to marriage at one point!

Snoopy was very upset, recalling how he encountered her when he was a naive little puppy.
