How can synergy contribute to corporate success

Remember also that each member needs to have an emotional connection with the Objectives in order to stay functioning at a higher level until they are met. This is especially true with a founding team or early-stage company. In physics terms, the emotional connection to the Objective is similar to the force felt by gravity. The result? The team can't help but be attracted to it!

Once you have your Objectives and they connect to the emotions of everyone involved, be sure to share them widely. This is what transparency means, and it is a necessary next step in creating group synergy, regardless of the size of the company. Structures can vary by sector and the stage of the company. A solid structure will consist of: measures and metrics, accountability and responsibility and, lastly, feedback and enforcement.

What is important is constant emphasis on the structure as a whole. As a leader, how often are you addressing all aspects of your structure? Reviewing this once a month won't suffice in many situations. A coworker recently told me about her grandson trying out for and making the high school soccer team. One of the youngest on the team, she told me how excited he was about being part of the team, making the cut out of 78 other people for the few available spots. He was looking forward to the opportunity of playing with new teammates.

School sports teams deal with a unique challenge in that their team roster is constantly rotating out. In many settings, losing key team members or gaining new ones the team is unfamiliar with can cripple a team. So how do some school teams manage to unify their team each year, performing as a cohesive group despite changes in the lineup?

The answer is by achieving synergy in teamwork. At first, the word was only used in English by social theorists and philosophers. Then early chemists, as they began to differentiate between atoms and molecules, found they had a word-shaped hole in their academic lexicon.

Basically, they had no way to account for how base elements like sodium and chlorine combined into molecules like table salt with properties entirely different from the original components.

These days, the word has seen a lot of use and perhaps abuse , but the core meaning still has merit. The objective is to increase effectiveness by sharing perceptions and experiences, insights, and knowledge. People think of synergy as something within an organization. It is usually when two parties collaborate and create a culture of excellence that is mutually beneficial. This can be broadened outside of an organization. An example of synergy can be illustrated by a car wash. You have been ordering soap from a manufacture that is based far away from you and is charging you a premium for their soap.

This is a major expense for you as you are obviously looking to lower your expenses. You can see that synergy can happen at a macro level. Businesses making decisions that help promote each other.
